In the United States of America the Smithsonian Museum of Arts is the first museum to be committed to the American art and its history. It has got a rich collection of native arts and to the level of contemporary one, even to the innovative pieces.

These art pieces which are in possession of Smithsonian blends the history with its rare beauty. This makes the Smithsonian American Museum of Arts as one the renowned museums of the world with a rare distinction of the most extensive and highly acclaimed mobile galleries. It throws open to the American people from all nooks and corners of United States of America.

The Smithsonian the famous art gallery was started in a very modest manner by Mr. John Varden in 1829. It was initially installed in one of the single rooms of his house where he just kept some of the European art works. Slowly after 12 years,in 1841 he moved his collection to the present Patent Office building where the present Smithsonian American Art Museum is proudly standing.

Mr. John Varden took upon the responsibility himself as the curator of the museum. He concentrated on government owned historic and artistic pieces. This included the now famous Declaration of American Independence and the equally famous printing press of Benjamin Franklin besides many other artistic sculptures and art pieces.

The year 1906 was a land mark year for the Smithsonian American Museum of Art. In this year the Smithsonian has got the recognition as the National Gallery of Art. There was a sudden influx of some of the rare art pieces into the Museum and formed the stable foundation of the present set up.

Due to the priceless collections of the museum the security at the Smithsonian American Museum of Art is the one of the heavily guarded locations in the world. They are so vulnerable to the theft and vandalism.

The Smithsonian has made many metamorphosis in name during the years. It is commonly referred as Smithsonian. At certain places it is known as American Museum of Art. It was made as National Museum of Art in 1980. Finally in 2000 it was again transformed into Smithsonian American Art Museum.

On the foot steps of this writing if you wish to visit the Smithsonian in its correct perceptive and appreciation you have to take little extra pain of planning the visit in advance. A cursory glance of a haphazard visit to the museum won’t yield any significant understanding.

So take time and plan the schedule so that you won’t be leaving any thing to guess. You have to see each wing of the museum in its entirety. Then the Smithsonian American Art Museum is going to give so many exciting moments. Finally, make sure to know the moving plans of the museum which they undertake at frequent intervals.

Museums are one of the world’s best methods of preserving history for the public as a whole to see. A museum, or an institution dedicated to the conservation and research of human history and development, can host many things. The items or knowledge in a museum does not necessarily need to be tangible. It can also include representations of the intangible. For an example, artwork and wall paintings depicting the gods of Egypt, would count as a representation of the intangible. Museums do not necessarily have to host ancient history, either. It can be a collection of modern works, such as found in science museums around the world.

While many people associate priceless artworks as what is found in museums, there are thousands of other items that can be found, ranging from pottery to mummies and spacecraft. In some ways, Zoos even classify as living museums for species that are close to the brink of extinction.

There are hundreds upon hundreds of museums around the world. Among them are the Smithsonian, the National Gallery of London, the Czartoryski in Krakow, the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., as well as the Virtual Museum of Canada. The Virtual Museum of Canada is an excellent example of museums that specialize in the intangible.

While museums tend to require admittance fees to see the exhibits, many museums survive on the donations of private investors. Between donations of valuables to museums, and monetary donations, these institutions often have to struggle if they are not well known.

If you are interested in museums, there are a variety of guides available on which museums have what items. As well, there are also schedules for when famous works of art will be displayed. The Egyptian mummies are a great example of famous heritage pieces that travel the world, as are the Dead Sea Scrolls. Museums that host famous pieces like these are also places with some of the finest security in the world. From highly trained security guards to electronic monitoring systems, many of these high end museums have security systems that rival the most secured banks and vaults around the world.

If you are looking for activities for your family, museums are often a popular choice. There are a range of children’s museums that display history and science that is interesting to both children and adults alike. Admission fees for children’s museums tend to be cheaper for children and often have family packs if the whole family is going to the museum.
