The Tampa Museum of Science and Industry is an interactive museum that includes an IMAX theater as well as many exhibitions designed to challenge the mind and education both adults and children. When you go to the Tampa Museum of Science, you need to be prepared to do some thinking. Unlike standard museums, where you can just admire artworks and lightly consider past history, the key to enjoying the Tampa Museum of Science is to fully expose yourself to all of the activities that the museum has to offer.

Some of the interactive exhibits at the Tampa Museum of Science is the high wire bicycle ride. This bike is suspended thirty feet in the air above the museum floor and is ninety-eight feet long. This makes this bike the longest high wire suspension in a US museum. In addition to this, the Tampa Museum of Science and Industry hosts one of the few Diplodocus dinosaurs, the Sauropod, in it. This dinosaur is renown for having massive bodies with very small brains. These dinosaurs were estimated to have weighed forty tons. As well, the Tampa Museum of Science has a wind tunnel that shows the force of a hurricane and a flight simulator. The flight simulator costs a few extra dollars on top of general admission.

The Tampa Museum of Science is the home of the largest children’s science center in the United States. With 40,000 square feet of dedicated space, the exhibit was designed by a board of 26 children between the ages of ten and seventeen, with the assistance of a panel of engineers and specialists to make the experience as positive and educational as possible while also being designed purely for kids by kids.

The museum is always in need of volunteers who can assist in making the environment as pleasant as possible for children and adults of all ages. If you are interested in volunteering it is important that you understand that the museum requires a certain amount of participation due to the effort that is involved in training people to help at the museum.


The Tampa Museum of Science is open seven days a week all year round. It does not close for holidays. The Tampa Museum of Science is located in North Tampa near the USF Sun Dome, one mile from Busch Gardens.
